Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdus Samad

Chairman

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdus Samad with 20 years of experience in the Islamic banking and finance industry, has been serving as the Member Secretary of the Shariah Supervisory Committee (SSC) of IBBPLC since 2016. Previously, he was the Member of the committee since 2004. Additionally, he contributes as the Chairman of the SSC at Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation, the Member Secretary of SSC at Global Islamic Bank PLC and Aviva Finance Limited, and a Member of the Shariah Advisory Committee at the Debt Management Department of Bangladesh Bank. He is also a Member of the SSC at Social Islami Bank PLC and a Member of the Fiqh Committee at the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIB).

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdus Samad is a researcher, Islamic scholar, author, and expert in Islamic Finance and Banking.

He is a teacher of Religious Attaché at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Dhaka.He is the Editor of AsSaqafah (The Culture), a half-yearly Arabic magazine. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdus Samad is the author and translator of many books, including “Islami Sukuk: Proyog and Sambhabona” and “Rasulullar (PBUM) Vhalobashay Sikto jara.” More than 20 articles written by him were published in different Journals and Magazines.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdus Samad completed Kamil (Hadith) from Karamatia Alia Madrasha, Noakhali, and Tafsir from Madrasa-E-Alia, Dhaka. Master of Arts (M.A) in Arabic Grammar & Morphology. He holds a Diploma and Graduation in Arabic Language. He was awarded his Ph.D. from Al Imam Mohammad bin Saud Islamic University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

With an impeccable track record in social, economic, and financial dealings, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdus Samad has made significant contributions to various disciplines of Islam. He has visited many countries, including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, China, South Korea, Thailand, Bahrain, Turkey and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Dr. Monzur-E-Elahi

Member Secretary

Dr. Mohammad Monzur-E-Elahi has been serving as a Member Secretary of the Shariah Supervisory Committee (SSC) of Islami Bank Capital Management Limited since 2023 and also the Member of the SSC of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. In addition, he serves as the Member Secretary of the SSC at Social Islami Bank PLC. He is also a Member of the SSC of Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation, Trust Bank PLC, MTB and Meghna Bank PLC. Furthermore, he actively participates as a Member of the Fiqh Committee under the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIB). He contributed significantly to the promotion of Islamic banking activities in Bangladesh.

Dr. Mohammad Monzur-E-Elahi acquired his Ph.D. in Usulul Fiqh and holds Bachelor of Arts (B.A) & Master of Arts (M.A) degrees in Islamic Shari`ah from the Islamic University of Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) As a Bangladeshi, he proudly holds the distinction of being the first Ph.D. holder from the University of Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Currently Dr. Elahi is an Associate Professor at the National University of Bangladesh. He is not only a scholar but also an accomplished author. He has written six books, five booklets, and 17 articles. Additionally, he has translated nine Islamic books/articles. His expertise extends to participating in Islamic programs on TV and social media since 2004 where he serves as a discussant. He has also been an active participant in numerous seminars and symposiums both domestically and internationally. Dr. Elahi is a prominent Islamic scholar and researcher, contributing significantly to the field for over 17 years.

Dr. Elahi has travelled in various countries including the USA, Austria, Indonesia, India, KSA, Kuwait, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Hungary, and Slovakia. With an impeccable track record in social, economic and financial dealings, Dr. Mohammad Monzur-E-Elahi continues to make valuable contributions to the Islamic scholarly community.

Mufti Mohammad Muhibbullahil Baqee

Member

Mufti Mohammad Muhibbulahil Baqee has been serving as a Member of the Shariah Supervisory Committee (SSC) of Islami Bank Capital Management Limited since 2023 and also Member of the SSC of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. His contributions extend to chairing the SSC of Agrani Bank PLC, Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited, Bengal Commercial Bank Limited and Premier Bank PLC. He also serves as the Member secretary of the SSC of Union Bank Ltd. Additionally, he holds a position as a Member of the SSC of First Security Islami Bank PLC, NRB Global Bank and Sonali Bank PLC.

Mufti Baqee is the Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Dhaka. With 33 years of teaching experience, he has contributed significantly to Darul Mar’rif al Islamia in Chattogram, the International Islamic University in Chattogram and serves as the Shaikhul Hadith of Jamia Noria Qasemul Uloom in Rupnagar, Mirpur; Jamia Fazlul Uloom in Jurain, Jatrabari; and Jamia Arabia Darul Uloom in Natun Bagh, Rampura.

Educationally, Mufti Baqee completed Alimiyyah (B.A) from Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow, India, and earned his Master of Arts (M.A) from the Department of Arabic at the University of Dhaka. He achieved Kamil with First class under the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Lucknow, India.

Mufti Baqee is recognized as a skilled researcher, with three articles published in renowned journals. Alongside his academic pursuits, he maintains an impeccable track record in social, economic and financial dealings.
